This 40 minute rolling hill workout is going to have you running up and down hills. Running downhill in training from time to time has its upside. Doing so will better prepare you for the rigors of racing on an undulating course, but will also help strengthen and toughen muscles that get ignored when running uphill or on flat ground.  “The main benefit from downhill running is the strength gains you can get from it,” says Steve Magness, exercise scientist and a coach with the Nike Oregon Project. a.“This is extremely helpful for training for races where you’ll spend a lot of time running downhills because now you won’t have this weak link in your chain that hasn’t been accustomed to the pounding that it has to withstand. Additionally, even if you aren’t training for a race with downhill in it, some of this training can serve as an injury prevention method to strengthen that are”. So tie up those shoe laces, grab your water bottle and get ready to run those rolling hills.  REMEMBER….you are always in control of your speed. So even if you are a beginner to running, you can do this workout but just be sure to keep the speed safe and within your comfort zone and running fitness level, you may even decide to just “hike/walk” the uphills and that is just as beneficial.  Train SMART everyone!!

**** Please note: GRRR most current treadmills DO NOT DECLINE (why they took the option away I will never know), and for this I am sorry!  You will have to just go to a 0% incline.

PLEASE NOTE:  Your purchase will be in your Account under Orders. Be sure to visit here to download your workout.  Apple users (iPhone/iPad/iPod) you will need to download the mp3 file on your HOME COMPUTER and NOT directly to your phone,  Apple does not allow third-party direct downloads, it will only stream and you will lose the download. What a great hill workout! Make sure you are on a treadmill that can incline & decline to get the full benefit of it! This helped get my body in shape for the hill running in Rocky Point…no shin splints here!!!!!! Most people forget to train hills & so this helps give you an edge in races with inclines/declines!

ugh unfortunately when I designed this workout, the treadmills at my local gym DID DECLINE and once they upgraded the treadmills, they no longer do. If you can’t do a DECLINE just go down to the 0% incline mark. Don’t know why treadmill manufacturers don’t think its important to have a decline…because my training quads say otherwise. 🙂

This is a well-rounded workout! While I dread running uphill, I look forward to downhill running for some relief (or a reward for being a good girl working hard uphill). I feel that my legs get a balanced workout. This is great to train your body to run different elevations.

I am a huge fan of running hills. This workout truly spoke to my heart. Oh, and my glutes, quads, calves, and hamstrings. This was an awesome workout that really pushed limits and challenged my body!
